Friends for Life Bike Rally

15 03 2011

For the second year in a row, this summer, I’m participating in the Friends for Life Bike Rally. On July 24th, 2011, I’ll begin cycling to Montreal – joined by approximately 400 other riders and crew – to raise money for the Toronto People With AIDS Foundation (PWA). Cycling the 660 km will benefit people living with HIV/AIDS by raising much needed dollars that the Toronto PWA Foundation will use to fund on-going programs and services for men, women and children living with HIV/AIDS.

I had such a great experience last year that, for 2011, I will also be co-leading a team of riders! I’m looking forward to making this an equally wonderful experience for my team, while motivating and encouraging them throughout their fundraising, training and ride to Montreal.

With your help, last year I was able to surpass my fundraising goal of $3000! This year, our goal is to raise $6000 together for this great cause. I strongly believe in the Friends for Life Bike Rally and the Toronto PWA Foundation so, to demonstrate this, Deryck and I have committed to getting the ball, or should I say wheels, rolling with the first two donations of $250.

I appreciate any amount that you are able to contribute, but, as you make your decision, please keep in mind how far I’m riding, the commitment I’ve made and the impact you will have on many people’s lives.

Please click here to visit my fundraising page and to make your pledge.

In Toronto, thousands of people are living with the virus that causes AIDS – approximately one-quarter of Canada’s HIV positive population live and access care here. Your dollars will go towards supporting various programs including:

  • Food Programs
  • Health Promotion Programs
  • Income Support Programs
  • Treatment Programs
  • Speaker Bureau

I’ll also be tracking my progress on my blog by posting: pictures and videos of the rides, my training updates and other cycling events I participate in, along with general bike rally and other cycling information. I encourage you to visit at http://pedalwhipped.com (You can also view the Bike Rally Informational video there and find links to the bike rally web page).

Thank you in advance for your generosity, it’s greatly appreciated!

Kind regards,

Mike
